Angels vs Yankees: Nolan Schanuel lifts Angels past Yankees in pitching duel
Nolan Schanuel's hit secured a 1-0 victory for the Los Angeles Angels against the New York Yankees. The game remained scoreless until the 11th inning. Earlier, Giancarlo Stanton returned for the Yankees after injury. Both teams struggled with runn...

With one out and Christian Moore serving as the automatic runner, Schanuel ripped a grounder down the left-field line off Jonathan Loaisiga (0-1), giving the Angels the lead in a tense pitchers’ duel.
The Angels loaded the bases following walks to Mike Trout (intentional) and Taylor Ward, but failed to add insurance. The Yankees nearly rallied in the bottom half, loading the bases against Brock Burke. However, Hunter Strickland needed just one pitch to retire Anthony Volpe and end the threat.
Earlier in the inning, after Aaron Judge was walked intentionally for the second time, Cody Bellinger advanced Paul Goldschmidt to third with a deep fly ball. But Moore threw Goldschmidt out at home on Jasson Domínguez’s grounder, and though Jazz Chisholm Jr. extended the inning with an infield single, the Yankees came up short.
Schanuel’s go-ahead RBI snapped a three-game skid for the Angels and marked their first 1-0 win over the Yankees in New York since August 1, 2008. Ryan Zeferjahn (4-1) earned the win with a clean 10th after Kenley Jansen escaped a jam in the ninth.
The loss marked a season-high fourth straight defeat for the Yankees, who went 1-for-18 with runners in scoring position.
