Angel City FC defender Savy King is in stable condition and responsive after collapsing during their match against the Utah Royals on May 9 at Los Angeles’s BMO Stadium. The 20-year-old experienced a sudden medical emergency in the 74th minute of the game. Chest compressions were administered on the field before she was carted off the field and later transported to a nearby hospital.

Assistant coach Eleri Earnshaw shared a brief update after the match: "Her family is with her, as is our medical staff, so she’s in good hands.” The club has confirmed that King remains under medical observation and is responsive. More information will be shared once available.

The scene left teammates, opponents, and fans visibly shaken. Players from both Angel City and the Utah Royals gathered on the field in support, with Utah's Alex Loera leading a group prayer. Loera and King were previously teammates at Bay FC.

Despite the tense moment, the match resumed. Angel City won 2-0, with Christen Press scoring her first goal two years after recovering from a major injury. Alyssa Thompson added a second goal in stoppage time.
