Rourke's contributions to The Smiths were substantial, as he played on the band's most iconic songs, including "This Charming Man" and "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out." After the group disbanded in 1987, he continued to work with lead singer Morrissey on his solo singles. Rourke's bass skills graced all four of The Smiths' studio albums: "The Smiths" (1984), "Meat Is Murder" (1985), "The Queen Is Dead" (1986), and "Strangeways, Here We Come" (1987).
