Famous Social media influencer and ex-kickboxer Andrew Tate has been detained in Romania after a house search in link to a human trafficking case.

Andrew Tate, a prominent social media personality has been detained in Romania over a human trafficking investigation.

Tate with his brother Tristan held with two other Romanian suspects after his house in Romania was raided in the capital, Bucharest.

They will be detained for twenty-four hours. Andrew Tate has been arrested on suspicion of human trafficking, rape, and also forming an organised crime group. As per Reuters the prosecutors informed that they created the crime group for recruiting, exploiting, and housing women by forcefully asking them to create pornographic content that will be seen on specialized websites at a given cost.


A video shown by the Directorate of Romania for the investigation of this organized crime and terrorism, which was shared on Twitter showed knives, money, and guns on display in one room of Tate’s house.

An estimated 25 million people worldwide are victims of labour and sex trafficking, according to the United Nations, with concerns growing that more will fall prey as support services are halted and efforts to secure justice are hindered.



"The difficulty is that trafficking is now even more underground and less visible," said Siobhan Mullally, the recently-appointed U.N. special rapporteur on human trafficking.

"More people are at risk ... especially in the informal economy ... there are opportunities for traffickers to recruit, to exploit, to prey on people's desperation," Mullally told the Thomson Reuters Foundation ahead of Anti-Slavery Day on Oct. 18.

About 2.5 billion people - more than 60% of the world's workforce - are informal workers, leaving them particularly at risk of being underpaid and abused, labour advocates have said.
