Andor season 2 trailer: Diego Luna's Star Wars show is back with explosions, drama, the Death Star and Stormtroopers

The trailer for Diego Luna-starrer Andor season 2 is out. The show, set in the Star Wars universe, is a prequel to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The first episode will air on April 22.

Apart from Diego Luna, the series stars Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgard, Faye Marsay, Varada Sethu, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough and Kyle Soller.

Ben Mendelsohn, Alan Tudyk, Elizabeth Dulau and Forest Whitaker will also feature in the space drama.

The show follows the adventures of Cassian Andor (Luna) as he undergoes a change from a small-time criminal to a rebel fighting against the Galactic Empire.

The second season will focus on the alliances and betrayals that the character will face as he transforms into a key player for the Rebel Alliance.

The trailer features all the hallmarks that make up the Star Wars universe- Stormtroopers, action, drama and humour. There even seems to be a dance party of sorts in one of the scenes.

The post-credits scenes at the end of Andor season 1 showed the Death Star was being built by droids. The new promo features more shots of the spaceship.

What Andor season 2 could feature

Andor is set five years before Rogue One. Rogue One in turn sets the stage for the events of Star Wars Episode IV, which was the original film in the series.

The storyline will tie up the ends of Rogue One. The story will continue from the post-credit scene where it was revealed that the parts Andor and his fellow inmates were building in prison were actually being used to build the Death Star, CNet reported.

The starship will ultimately lead to the death of Andor and other members of the Rebel Alliance in Rogue One.

Series creator Tony Gilroy has said that Cassian Andor’s journey is the heart and soul of the series, as per Variety. He also discussed the scope of the show and said that it will feature a range of characters from overlords to ordinary people.

Star Wars universe

The Lucasfilm project is just one of the many Star Wars films and TV series in production. The list features Pedro Pascal’s film Mandalorian and the Grogu, set for a 2026 release.

As per Gamesradar, Indiana Jones 5 director James Mangold is working on a film that will focus on the first Jedis. Future projects also include a movie on Kylo Rey, and an untitled movie that is set to release on December 27, 2027.
