Americans cannot be exploited or abused, so Indian managers prefer those with H-1B visas: Here’s what a person back from the US alleges
The Trump administration introduced a $100,000 fee for new H-1B visa applicants. A Reddit user, back from the US, highlights issues with Indian managers exploiting visa holders. The user also points out favoritism towards certain Indian regions. T...

The discussions over H-1B visa rule changes and their repercussions on the new applicants have taken over social media platforms, with people sharing their personal experiences with the visa rules and giving opinions about what they think the situation in the US is regarding the H-1B visa.
A user on Reddit, who claims he returned to India from America, shared his take on the H-1B visas. In the Reddit post, the user named r/india said that he returned from the US because of the toxic behavior of his Indian managers. “They exploit employees on visas, knowing how complicated and vulnerable the situation is since they themselves went through it,” the user said. He, however, also clarified that there were multiple reasons, but this was one of them.
Further elaborating on the situation of the Indian workforce in America, the user claimed that Indians in higher positions mainly hire other Indians, only to abuse them and their visa status. The user also claim that there is partiality and favoritism and employees from certain regions are preferred.
“Honestly, I don't think DJT's reasoning is entirely wrong there [sic] are so many Indians in higher positions who mainly hire other Indians, only to abuse them and their visa status. They avoid hiring Americans because they know they can't push them to work 24/7, and Americans won't hesitate to sue if boundaries are crossed,” the user said.
Bringing the focus to the US government's new H-1B rule, the user said that this will definitely reduce the number of these types of employees and managers.
“Obviously American [sic] will be pissed if they see this kind of favouritism they’re [sic] not stupid. New H1b rule will definitely reduce the number of these types of employees and managers. I'm happy at least everyone saw how fragile H1b situation is this weekend and it's not as glorious as it seems from outside,” the user said.
How Reddit users reacted to the post
The comment section of the reddit post was flooded with reactions. People shared their own experiences of working in the US and what did they observed in terms of biasness or visas. “You know what’s the worst? The ones who abused the system to get the GC and Citizenship will never be the ones punished, it’ll always be the hard workers who don’t come from certain Indian states,” a user commented.
“People scammed the system and got through. Now they will never pay for it while they have effectively screwed people who would come after them,” said another.
