Los Angeles police investigate double homicide in Encino

Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to a welfare check at a White Oak Avenue residence in Encino on Monday, July 14, at approximately 2:30 p.m. Officers discovered a male and female couple with apparent gunshot wounds inside the home.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics arrived at the scene and pronounced both victims dead. The LAPD spokesman confirmed a homicide investigation is ongoing but could not verify the victims' identities. No suspects have been identified or arrests made in connection with the double murder investigation.

Victims identified as entertainment industry professionals

TMZ first reported the victims as Robin Kaye and Thomas Deluca. Kaye worked as a music supervisor and producer in the American Idol music department from 2002 to 2023, spanning the show's original run and revival.


Deluca was a songwriter and musician whose most recent album, Street Rock, was released in 2022 according to his website. The couple's deaths represent a significant loss to the entertainment industry music community.

Kaye's extensive career in music supervision

Robin Kaye built a distinguished career in music supervision across multiple television productions. Her credits included work on Lip Sync Battle, After the Sunset, The Singing Bee, and Q'Viva!: The Chosen, establishing her as a veteran in music reality television.

Kaye began her music industry career on the record company and artist management side, working for Waylon Jennings in Nashville before joining MTM Records in artist development. She subsequently worked in the film and TV licensing department at MCA-Universal Records and managed the music licensing division at PolyGram Records.
