American Horror Stories season 2 premiere: Fans are shocked. Here's why

American Horror Stories-Season 2 has premiered and it has all the elements of being a horror flick. The first episode was a spellbinding one and has an eerie connection with the previous stories.

The season began with a frightening story of Mr. Van Wirth searching for a wife, who would be a new mother to his son, Otis. Otis' birth mother was found in bed with another man, and therefore, both were hurled down a deep well, naked, as punishment. The role portrayed by Denis O’Hare is that of a toy maker, who is searching for a new mother for his son.

The horror doesn’t end with Mrs. Wirth being plunged into a well; Mr. Wirth kidnaps many women and turns them into living dolls. The living dolls have to undergo various tests, like cleaning the house and folding a shirt, and those, who get low marks, are thrown into the well. These dolls are made to compete against each other, and the winner is then selected to be the new mother for Otis.


This could make anyone go mad with horror, but there is more. One of the dolls, Coby (Kristine Froseth), who has been able to impress little Otis by showing him magic tricks, becomes the object of hate. One of the dolls plans to murder Coby as a result. At the same time, she tries to protect Otis from harm. This caring attitude of Coby towards Otis spares her life as the others are shot dead by Van Wirth in the forest. Coby is then declared the winner and Otis’ new mother.

The story gets more horrific when, during the final moments, two witches break the spell that has made Coby a doll. The witches then burn Mr. Van Wirth and his assistant, taking Coby and Otis to where they will be safe.

Unfortunately, the "safe haven" happens to be Miss Robichaux’s Academy, which caters to young ladies with immense talents. This institute is none other than the American Horror Story setup of "Coven and Apocalypse". Otis is told to use his middle name "Spalding" rather than "Wirth," as it is safer. This connects with the Spalding in O’Hare’s character Coven, and fans will soon know that Otis is the younger version of Coven.

There are more surprises when a young girl with red hair, wearing spectacles, is introduced to the audience as Myrtle Snow, who says that she plans to be the boss of this place someday. Well, if only she knew where she was staying.
