Thousands of users in the United States experienced disruptions on Monday as Amazon Web Services (AWS) reported outages across multiple platforms. Many users attempting to access the site or connected gaming platforms noticed interruptions.

According to DownDetector at 3:44 a.m. ET, 5,852 users reported issues with Amazon Web Services (AWS), according to DownDetector. The majority of the problems were concentrated in the US-East-1 region (77%), followed by US-West-1 (13%) and US-West-2 (10%), highlighting that the outage primarily impacted the eastern United States but was also felt on the west coast.

As per the website, Amazon (.com) users reported a much higher number. More than 14,000 users as of 3:44 a.m. ET on Monday. The most affected areas of the service included the mobile App: 53% of users reported issues; home Page: 26% of users reported issues; shopping cart: 22% of users reported issues.

User's reaction on Amazon web services down

Social media users quickly took to platforms like x and Downdetector’s comment page to report the disruption. User @20wenty_ shared a list of affected games and websites, while John R. Eakin (@JREakin) noted that the AWS status was temporarily lowered to “Degraded” before fluctuating back to impacted. Another user, Mr. Frog (@TheMisterFrog), confirmed that the disruption was indeed related to Amazon Web Services.

Another user, Chris M, confirmed the global scale of the outage, noting that “ALL sites using AWS are down” and urging users to check Twitter for live updates.

Other users shared the impact on specific services: Lidya Ramirez discovered her Canvas school app was down, Anton Kim and Samat Baltin reported issues logging into Amazon Relay and warned that package deliveries could be delayed. Questions also circulated about Amazon Flex, with Ivy asking if it was affected. Toothless Ivy summarized the disruption, noting that smart home devices, books, shipping, music, and streaming—all services dependent on AWS—were likely impacted.
