Amazon Prime customers who meet these 3 requirements could now qualify for up to $200 under revised FTC settlement
Amazon Prime FTC settlement refund: Amazon Prime is set to enhance customer satisfaction with expanded refunds of up to two hundred dollars. Starting October 1, 2026, millions more customers will automatically qualify for these payments. Those who...

The change expands the group of consumers eligible for money from Amazon’s $2.5 billion settlement with the FTC and removes the need for eligible customers to file a claim or complete additional paperwork.
The FTC announced Thursday, September 17, that Amazon will “accelerate and expand payments” to consumers under the revised order. The agency said the changes were approved this week by a federal court.
Who can now qualify for an Amazon Prime refund?
Under the revised order, millions of additional Prime customers could become eligible for automatic payments. The original settlement provided refunds of up to $51 to consumers who used fewer than 10 Prime benefits during a one-year period. The revised order expands eligibility to customers who used between 11 and 20 Prime benefits during a one-year period.
These newly eligible consumers are scheduled to begin receiving automatic refunds on October 1, 2026. The payments can be delivered electronically through PayPal or Venmo, or by mailed check. Customers do not need to submit claims, respond to notices or complete forms to receive the money.
Why is Amazon paying customers?
The payments stem from the FTC’s September 2025 settlement with Amazon. The agency had alleged that Amazon enrolled millions of consumers in Prime subscriptions without their consent and made it difficult for customers to cancel their memberships.
Under the settlement, Amazon agreed to provide up to $1.5 billion in consumer redress and pay a separate $1 billion civil penalty. As of September 2026, Amazon had issued more than $845 million in redress payments to consumers, according to the FTC.
The agency said the revised order is intended to speed up the remaining payments while expanding eligibility.
“The revised order will ensure more consumers who were harmed by Amazon’s deceptive enrollment and cancellation practices benefit from the FTC’s historic settlement,” said Christopher Mufarrige, Director of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection, in a press release.
Some customers could receive another $149
The revised order also changes the maximum amount some consumers can receive. Customers who previously received a refund under the settlement could qualify for an additional payment of up to $149 if the required payment threshold has not been reached by February 2027.
Amazon Prime refund eligibility: The three requirements
According to the FTC, consumers must meet three requirements to qualify under the revised settlement. They must be Amazon Prime customers in the United States, and they must have signed up through one of the challenged enrollment flows or attempted to cancel through Amazon’s online cancellation process but been unable to do so between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025.
They must also have used no more than 20 Amazon Prime benefits during any 12-month period following enrollment.
The challenged enrollment flows include Amazon’s universal Prime decision page, shipping selection page, single-page checkout and Prime Video enrollment flow.
No claim is required
Eligible customers do not need to contact the FTC or Amazon to apply for the refund. Amazon will automatically send payments by PayPal, Venmo or mailed check. Payments expire 60 days after their issue date, so recipients will need to accept them within that period. The FTC said eligible consumers should receive their refunds by April 2027.
FTC warns Amazon customers about refund scams
The agency is also warning consumers about scammers attempting to exploit the settlement. The FTC said it is not contacting consumers by phone about Amazon refunds. Anyone claiming to represent the FTC and asking for money or personal information in exchange for a payment should be treated as a scam.
The agency said it will never demand money, make threats, instruct consumers to transfer money or promise a prize in connection with the refund.
