Amazon FTC settlement payouts: Who is eligible for up to $200 and when will the money arrive?

Amazon Prime Settlement Payments: Amazon Prime customers could start receiving settlement money as early as Oct. 1, 2026, under a revised agreement tied to the company’s $2.5 billion settlement with the Federal Trade Commission. The updated order expands the number of customers who can receive payments and raises the maximum amount from $51 to $200. The biggest change is that eligible customers do not have to file a claim, as per a report by USA Today.

Who is eligible for the Amazon Prime refund?

Under the revised order, Amazon will begin sending automatic payments to millions of additional Prime customers who used between 11 and 20 Prime benefits during a one-year period.

These customers were not included in earlier payment rounds. The FTC said they will now qualify for automatic refunds beginning Oct. 1, 2026.

The change follows the September 2025 settlement between Amazon and the FTC. The agency had alleged that Amazon enrolled millions of people in Prime without their consent and made cancellation difficult.

Amazon was required to provide up to $1.5 billion in consumer redress, along with a $1 billion civil penalty.

Do Amazon Prime customers need to file a claim?

No. Future payments will be sent automatically. The FTC said the new process is “eliminating the need for consumers to submit claims or additional paperwork to Amazon.”

Payments will be sent electronically through Venmo or PayPal, or by mailed check. Customers do not need to submit a claim, respond to a notice or fill out additional forms to receive an eligible payment.

The revised agreement also changes how much some consumers could ultimately receive.

The original order allowed refunds of up to $51 for consumers who used fewer than 10 Prime benefits during a one-year period. The updated agreement increases the maximum total payment to $200.

If consumer-accepted payments do not reach the required threshold by February 2027, Amazon will make additional automatic payments to consumers who previously received refunds, according to the FTC.

Those customers will be eligible for an additional $149, bringing their total payment to as much as $200.

The final round of these supplemental payments is scheduled to begin by April 2027.

For Amazon Prime customers who qualify under the revised order, the process is automatic. There is no separate claim form to complete, and payments will arrive through the payment method selected under the settlement process.
