The world's richest man, Jeff Bezos turns 58 today. If you have ever shopped online, then you need no introduction to the billionaire who started Amazon. The American entrepreneur, who left a lucrative job to start his own business, previously served as the president and CEO of Amazon.

In 2019, Bezos became a household name, thanks to all the drama circulating around his divorce with MacKenzie Scott, after a "long period" of separation.

MacKenzie walked away with 25 per cent in Amazon stock, with Bezos holding on to the remaining 75 per cent. The company was founded in 1994 as an online bookstore.

Through the years, Bezos has invested in variety of companies via Amazon such as Bezos Expeditions - his venture capital firm, Nash Holdings LLC - a private company he owns, the Bezos Family Foundation and more.

According to Forbes, Bezos had a net worth of $177 billion as of June 2021. Apart from Amazon, another major company that Bezos founded is Blue Origin in 2000, the aerospace manufacturer and sub-orbital spaceflight services company.

In 2013, Bezos also purchased a major newspaper company in America, The Washington Post, for $250 million. But who is Bezos outside the boardroom and away from financial deals?

Did you know that Bezos starred as a Starfleet official in 'Star Trek Beyond'? His one line consisted of a response to an alien in distress: "Speak Normally." His love for science fiction series 'Star Trek' is what resulted in the launch of Alexa.

Even Bezos's family office Zefram LLC is named after a character from 'Star Trek' -- Zeframe Cochrane.

Bezos is also a funny man. When a video clip of his current partner Lauren Sánchez talking to Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio with Bezos next to her went viral, the billionaire reacted in a hilarious way to memes which said 'Leo is Mr steal yo girl'. Bezos won the Internet with a tweet.
