Anisimova showed she would not be haunted by the scars of her painful Wimbledon defeat, as she earned sweet revenge on Iga Swiatek to book her place in the US Open semi-finals with a commanding 6-4, 6-3 victory over the Polish second seed on Wednesday.
"I've been having the run of my life here," said Anisimova in her on-court interview.
"The first day I got here I was like 'OK, let's try and get through one round... This has been such a dream. To come back from Wimbledon like that is really special to me."
Anisimova, set to meet two-time US Open champion Naomi Osaka in Thursday’s semifinals, admitted she prepared for her quarter-final rematch by revisiting the replay of her painful Wimbledon loss.
"Last night -- nobody told me to -- but I watched (it) back, as painful as it was, just to see, like, what I can avoid or what went wrong," Anisimova said. "Then after I had to watch some good highlights to remove that from my brain.
"It was important for me to see what happened going into today's match."
