Amanda Anisimova's Wimbledon final and career milestones

Amanda Anisimova competed in the Wimbledon 2025 women’s singles final against five-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek. The American player lost in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, as Swiatek dominated the match in 57 minutes. It marked Swiatek’s first Wimbledon title and her sixth Grand Slam overall.

Despite the loss, Anisimova’s appearance in the final represents her most significant Grand Slam result since reaching the French Open semifinals in 2019. In 2025, she also won the Qatar Open, signaling a successful return following a 2023 mental health break. Her 2019 run to the French Open semifinal included a notable victory over Simona Halep. However, her career was impacted by the sudden death of her father and coach, Konstantin Anisimov, in August 2019, which led her to withdraw from the US Open that year. She returned to the WTA Tour in 2024.

Amanda Anisimova is coached by Hendrik Vleeshouwers. She began her tennis journey under the guidance of her father, Konstantin Anisimov, who served as her first coach. Konstantin passed away from a heart attack in 2019 at the age of 52. Anisimova later said in The New York Times, “Tennis felt like being close to him.” His passing played a significant role in her subsequent career breaks and mental health challenges.

Her mother, Olga Anisimova, was born in Moscow and immigrated to the United States with her husband in 1998. Though not a tennis player herself, Olga helped establish a tennis club where Amanda was homeschooled and trained. Amanda’s older sister, Maria Anisimova-Egee, is 14 years her senior. Maria played college tennis at the University of Pennsylvania and attended Wharton Business School. After experiencing injuries and burnout, Maria advised her parents to ensure Amanda maintained a healthy balance between tennis and social life.
