Trump immigration crackdown: Mexican cartel mulls attacking US border agents using Kamikaze drones
The US President Donald Trump administration has aggressively publicized the arrests of over 8,000 immigrants since the Inauguration Day while claiming that these actions are part of a historic mass deportation effort, reported NBC News.

However, during such times, NBC News reports that some of those arrested have already been released back into the US but on a monitoring program due to space constraints in the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facilities and also federal court orders prohibiting indefinite detention.

In spite of the focus of the US President Donald Trump administration on increasing arrests in major cities like Chicago and New York, the limited capacity of ICE actually facilities has forced the agency to release certain individuals rather than hold them until deportation, asserted NBC News. At the same time, those who are released are also being monitored through an Alternatives to Detention program, which has now been in place for almost over a decade.

This program reportedly uses ankle monitors, wristbands or phone check ins to track the migrants during their immigration proceedings.

While US president Donald Trump has vowed to end ‘catch-and-release’ policies at the southern border, at the same time, ICE is still required to release some detainees due to budget constraints that limit the number of available beds, noted NBC News. The agency eventually prioritizes detaining the immigrants considered public safety threats but exercises discretion in releasing those without having any sort of serious criminal records.
