'All Eyes on Rafah': Tagline goes viral on social media amid Israel-Hamas War

An AI image is doing the rounds on social media that shows multiple refugee tent camps on a barren land. Millions of users have shared the image across the globe to highlight the plight of Palestinians amid the Israel-Hamas War.

An AI-generated image of refugee tents on a vast piece of land has become incredibly viral amid the Israel-Hamas War, which is currently at its peak. The image contains a bold text that reads, "All eyes on Rafah," which is currently the home for thousands of Palestinians who have been displaced from the Gaza Strip. Rafah, an area in the south of Gaza, bordering Egypt, was bombed by Israeli forces. This caused the loss of lives of at least 45 civilians, along with many injured, according to an 'NBC' report.

AI Images have become a massive online trend

There have been many instances when AI images have been used for online activism concerning international geopolitical issues and crises but the 'All Eyes on Rafah', has topped it all with the image having 37 million shares on Instagram in less than 24 hours. According to 'NBC', experts studying misinformation on social media have asserted that the image 'definitely looks' AI-generated.

The image shows certain inconsistencies where the refugee tent camps are being shown. It has a very unrealistic symmetry, which is a generic case of AI generated image. Most importantly, the instance of pattern repetition, as seen in the image, is a common factor in AI-generated imagery.

Celebs share 'All Eyes on Rafah'

The image has seen rising popularity amongst social media influencers as well as Hollywood celebrities including the likes of Gigi and Bella Hadid, Nicola Coughlan from Bridgerton, Mark Ruffalo, Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Giacomo Gianniotti, Rosie O'Donnell and many more, according to YNet News. Meanwhile, Dua Lipa condemned the violence and pledged support towards Gaza with the hashtag "All eyes on Rafah."
