Amazon has rolled out a new feature to allow customers to thank their delivery drivers through Amazon Alexa devices. Amazon announced this new promotional feature on December 7. With this feature in place, whenever a customer says, "Alexa, thank my driver," the driver, who delivered the package to them most recently, will be notified regarding the same. The company said that now their customers can thank delivery drivers "each day" with the help of Alexa.
As per the company, with every notification of gratitude received from customers, drivers, who receive the first one million such notifications, will be awarded an extra $5 without charging any additional cost to the customers. Besides, five drivers, who will receive the most thank yous during the promotional period will get a bonus of $10,000 and an additional $10,000 for donating to the charity of their choice.
The company is celebrating the milestone of delivering 15 billion packages in the United States. While emphasizing drivers' importance, the retail giant stated that they "form a relationship with customers" and sometimes play the role of "the unexpected hero" as they support the community in trying times.
The new feature has come when the DC Attorney General is suing Amazon. According to Bloomberg, the lawsuit claims that the company allegedly misled the customers by using tips to cover up their base pay of couriers. However, Amazon has denied the allegations.
