Lead singer of the rock band "Arctic Monkeys" Alex Turner just performed a blistering guitar solo on Body Paint, the swaggering, David Bowie-inspired centrepiece of their new album, The Car, on a well-known television show with Jools Holland afterward.

He panted when he said that he was being dried out due to the heat there and requested that someone get him some water. The Arctics are the only band in the studio, which is unusual. The show is offering a complete episode to a single performer for the first time in 15 years, an honor usually reserved for rock icons like REM, Radiohead, Metallica, and Oasis. Turner and his bandmates recognize how serious the issue is. They wanted to make sure the new song was released with the right punch and panache, so they shot additional takes and altered their setlist.

Turner said that they needed to make this recording count as it approached the second hour and added that they would perform an acoustic version before "Born to Run."
