Passenger disruptions affecting airlines
A disruptive passenger on an American Airlines flight was removed after telling a flight attendant to “shut up” during the mandatory pre-flight safety briefing. The incident, which took place on a Texas-bound flight from Costa Rica to Dallas, was caught on video by a fellow traveler and quickly went viral, sparking widespread discussion on social media about passenger behavior and airline protocols.

The video shows the flight attendant reading the safety instructions over the plane's public address system. During the announcement, a female passenger interrupts, telling the attendant to “shut up.” The flight attendant then approaches the passenger and firmly addresses the disrespectful behavior, warning her to comply with crew instructions or face removal. The passenger responds sarcastically, claiming she "can’t hear", ironically speaking over the safety briefing herself.

The flight attendant then states, “You’re not on my list as someone who can’t hear, so I’m going to ask the pilot to remove you because you’re not complying.”

The clip cuts out after the traveler agrees to comply with orders, but then picks up again with her claiming to be harassed by the airline employee. Shortly after, the passenger is seen being escorted off the plane.

Jay Crenshaw, a passenger seated next to the disruptive traveler, recorded the encounter and shared his viewpoint. He expressed sympathy for both parties, stating to The Post that the passenger “was having a bad morning” but acknowledged that her behavior was unacceptable. “We’ve all had bad days and said bad things, but we weren’t filmed,” he added.

American Airlines did not immediately comment on the situation. Disruptive behavior, especially during safety briefings, is taken seriously by all airlines for the protection of everyone on board.

This incident is part of a broader trend of passenger disruptions affecting airlines worldwide. Recent months have witnessed numerous cases where travelers were removed for unruly conduct, including vaping in lavatories, verbally abusing crew members, or refusing to comply with instructions. Airlines continue to enforce stricter measures to ensure crew safety and maintain order in increasingly crowded skies.
