In a shocking revelation, nearly 17,000 first responders in the United States have been reported to be affected with different forms of cancer and other deadly diseases. A New York Post report has stated that law enforcement department officials who attended to the 9/11 scene shortly after hijacked planes hit the Twin Towers, have been ridden with various diseases, including cancer. A list of data collected from FDNY, NYPD, and even the Port Authority of New York, include at least 45,200 civilians and officials.

The FDNY first responders who are enrolled in the World Trade Center Health Program, have been affected by multiple certified illnesses, and have undergone treatment around the same till now. The aftermath of the 9/11 attacks are so deep-rooted, that it has not only led to mental and physical stigma, it has also triggered major social security fears, including different kinds of phobia.

Pulmonary fibrosis, which is a severe lung disorder, was also observed in a maximum of cases of fire department officials in the FDNY, as they were exposed to various kinds of toxic fumes that took days to extinguish.
