After the polarization of shootings, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to veto a $35 mn Tampa Bay Rays facility
Governor Ron DeSantis is reportedly working on a plan to veto a $35 million bill for the Tampa Rays' spring training facility. This decision is said to be the result of the Rays politicising recent shootings in Buffalo and Uvalde.

Following DeSantis' response to Disney earlier in the year, the decision was made. Earlier this year, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis revoked Disney's exclusive tax and also the self-governing privileges after the company improperly intervened in Florida parental rights laws that were dubbed as "Don't Say Gay."
DeSantis is speaking out for those who don't want their sports companies or children's companies to be at the center of a cultural divide.
In any case, residents in Florida have called on DeSantis to veto the spending, saying that taxpayers' tax dollars shouldn't be used to fund a stadium for a professional sports team. The Florida Senate has opposed this proposal by referring to it as a "Sports Training and Youth Tournament Complex" without specifically taking the mention of Rays. However, it is expected that the money would most probably help cover a new facility for the Rays.
Tampa Bay Rays posted on their official social media site that, the recent mass shootings in Uvalde and Buffalo have shaken them to the core. The Tampa Bay Rays are mourning these tragedies that ended up taking the lives of innocent children and adults. They are of an opinion that this shouldn’t become normal.
Governor DeSantis is expected to address this decision shortly.
