On Tuesday morning, investigators will reach the scene of a significant fire that occurred overnight at a chemical facility in Lake County.

The State Fire Marshal's Office and Ohio EPA representatives will seek to determine how the fire started and keep an eye out for potential contamination.

Before 11 p.m. on Monday, the first reports of the fire began to arrive. The incident at 300 Edwards St. in Madison drew the attention of over a dozen different fire departments. According to the reports, the fire occurred at ChemMasters, producing concrete and mortar.


According to the officials, the Lake County Hazardous Materials Team was also called to the scene, who helped decide that there was no need to evacuate the neighborhood.

Tod Baker, the chief of the Madison Fire Department, claims that no chemicals were burnt in the building fire as it was made of dry materials.




The difficulty with the water delivery was due to the size of the fire, and Baker says 3News. "It was difficult since a large building and a large fire require much water. Another obstacle was the location. There is a single, narrow exit and a single, small entry. The main challenge was trying to safeguard the chemical tank houses here.

There have been no injuries reported. The cause is still being looked into. Before 10 p.m. on Monday, the fire started, and other fire units assisted the spot. Since then, the fires have been put out.

A fireball erupted at the scene in a video of the fire that Steve Harvey released on Twitter. The region was to be avoided, but there were no evacuations.
