Tesla CEO Elon Musk's highly touted Cybertruck has faced yet another significant setback, as per a report.

Tesla Cybertruck's New Setback

The EV maker has been compelled to suspend sales of its electric pickup truck amid increasing fears that its allegedly indestructible panels are falling off, the Telegraph reported.

The problem, which has been causing alarm among customers and internet forums, is with the panels and trim parts of the truck, including a specific part known as the 'cantrail', an ornamental trim that adorns the roof edge, as per the report.

As per Cybertruck Owners Club website reports and social media updates from frustrated customers on Musk's social media platform X (formerly Twitter) indicate that several Cybertruck owners have received notification that delivery is paused, according to the Telegraph report.

Electrek, an electric vehicle news outlet, claimed that the decision to halt deliveries follows several instances of trim and panels "flying off the supposedly ‘bulletproof’ electric truck," as per a Telegraph report. The issue appears to be escalating, particularly in colder weather where low temperatures are affecting the adhesive that secures the parts in place, reported Telegraph.

As per the report, the truck that was sold as an indestructible vehicle, featuring a high-strength, stainless-steel exoskeleton meant to withstand dents and chips, this quality problem has taken a hit out of Tesla's reputation.

Even with these cutting-edge materials, the Cybertruck's design nonetheless depends on separate panels fitted over the frame, as opposed to the conventional integrated body design in most vehicles, according to the Telegraph. This leaves the attachment points more susceptible to failure, particularly in extreme use.

Not the First Issue for Tesla’s Cybertruck

This is not the first time that the Cybertruck has been in trouble, according to the Telegraph report. The company has faced several recall orders for the Cybertruck after entering production in 2023, as per the report. Last year there was a recall that concerned the detachment of a cosmetic exterior panel glued onto the vehicle, reported Telegraph.

While, there were also reports of other recalls due to software fixes and an issue where the accelerator pedal could become stuck in the interior trim, potentially causing unintended acceleration, the Telegraph reported.
