After a fan passes away at an Eras event in Brazil, Taylor Swift posts a heartfelt message

Taylor Swift declared herself "overwhelmed by grief" following the death of a 23-year-old fan just prior to her Brazilian concert.

A fan, identified by the local media as Ana Clara Benevides, passed away prior to Swift's Eras Tour performance in Rio de Janeiro.

At Friday's Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos, Benevides passed out before being brought back to consciousness.


She was admitted to the hospital and eventually passed away from a heart attack, her cousin confirmed.

After the fan passed away, Swift said the following on Instagram: I can't express how shocked I am right now.

It still surprises me that I'm writing this, but we lost a fan before my show earlier tonight. I say this with broken hearts.

The first of three Eras Tour dates in Brazil began on Friday night in Rio de Janeiro, with additional dates in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

In remarks on X/Twitter and Instagram, a number of spectators expressed their displeasure with the stadium's policy against carrying water bottles, citing the intense heat.
