As US President Donald Trump reached his 50th day in office, national opinion polls reflect mixed signals for his second term, as per a report.

Even the White House issued a press release claiming, "50 WINS IN 50 DAYS: President Trump Delivers for Americans," by mentioning achievements, some of which have been controversial, Fox News reported. The president's approval ratings, however, tell a different story.

Reuters/Ipsos, CNN, and NPR/PBS/Marist polls taken prior to Trump's first big primetime address to Congress indicate his approval had fallen below water, Fox News reported. Yet, Trump, claimed on social media that he got "Highest Approval Ratings Since Inauguration," the report added.

A Slight Decline Since Inauguration

Although Trump's approval ratings remain in positive territory, the figures have dipped from the peak at the start of his second term, according to Fox News. His approval was in the low 50s and disapproval in the mid-40s just a couple of weeks ago, Fox News reported. Now, national averages reflect more divided sentiment on his performance, as per the report.

Veteran Republican pollster Neil Newhouse claimed that "Keep these numbers in perspective. The numbers he’s averaging right now are still higher than he was at any point during his first presidency," as quoted by Fox News. He also added that "Trump's Republican base is still strongly behind him," as quoted in the report.
