Jason Momoa has officially parted ways with his iconic beard, a signature look he’s kept for six years, and introduced a clean-shaven face in a new Instagram video shared on July 30. But the transformation wasn’t just about style. The actor revealed that the shave was part of his campaign to raise awareness about single-use plastic, tied to his sustainable water company, Mananalu.

“Haven’t shaved in six years, and here we are again,” he wrote in the caption.

“Let’s get rid of single-use plastic, for our children and for our planet. All my aloha, J,” he added.

In the video, Momoa 45 shaves while speaking about his company’s new partnership with Boomerang Water to launch a closed-loop water system that reduces plastic waste and reuses aluminum bottles, starting in Hawai’i.

Though the Dune actor made light of the moment, joking “God damnit, I hate it!” after seeing his bare face, the message was clear: “This is the future.”

The couple, who made their red carpet appearance together at the Chief of War premiere in Hawai’i earlier this month, appear to be going strong. Arjona also joined Momoa at the event alongside his two children.

This isn’t the first time Momoa has shaved for a cause. He previously posted a YouTube video in 2019 saying goodbye to facial hair as he launched Mananalu with the message: “It’s time to make a change.”

Momoa and Lisa divorced in January 2022 after nearly 17 years together and four years of marriage. They married in October 2017 after being in a relationship since 2005. They have a daughter Lola and son Nakoa-Wolf.

At the time, they said in a joint statement shared via Momoa’s social media:

“We share our family news that we are parting ways in marriage… feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring.”

Neither Lisa, nor the two children have reacted publicly to Jason’s new look.
