Adaptation of 'Queer' by Luca Guadagnino, starring Daniel Craig, is work in progress

Italian filmmaker Luca Guadagnino is planning to direct Queer written by William S. Burroughs. Currently, he is in the process of finding funds for the movie.

Luca Guadagnino is looking to work on William S. Burroughs’ book Queer as a director. He is finding funds for the new film. Guadagnino is hoping to cast Daniel Craig as the lead actor in the movie.

Burroughs’ Queer follows the story of Lee, who lives in Mexico City. The novel is a narration of Lee’s experience in the city while living with American emigrants.

Lee is interested in pursuing a young man named Allerton. The character of Allerton is based on Adelbert Lewis Marker. He was discharged from the American Navy in Jacksonville, Florida and became friends with Burroughs in Mexico City.


Queer was published in 1985 and was written between 1951 and 1953. It is a sequel to Junkie.
