Adam Sandler honoured with Mark Twain Prize for American Humour; co-stars Rob Schneider, Drew Barrymore, and others attend ceremony

A late-night event at the Kennedy Center in Washington saw Mark Twain Prize for American Humor being awarded to comedy legend Adam Sandler.

Including Jennifer Aniston, Judd Apatow, Drew Barrymore, Steve Buscemi, Dana Carvey, Luis Guzmán, Conan O'Brien, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, David Spade, and Ben Stiller, many other Adam Sandler's co-stars and comedy and entertainment luminaries attended the award ceremony.

The 56-year-old Sandler initially gained widespread recognition while working as a cast member on "Saturday Night Live" for five years. He subsequently started a career in movies that was incredibly successful.

In receiving the Mark Twain Award, Sandler joins Bill Murray, Tina Fey, Will Farrell, Billy Crystal, Eddie Murphy, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as the eighth former SNL cast member. The honor has been given to other producers and authors.

Each honoree is recognized during a night of testimonies and video tributes. On March 26, a national broadcast of Sandler's event will air.
