Adam Sandler honors Cameron Boyce
Adam Sandler’s highly anticipated sequel, “Happy Gilmore 2,” which premiered July 25, 2025 on Netflix, includes an emotional nod to late Disney star and Sandler’s former co-star, Cameron Boyce.
Sandler has openly supported Boyce’s family following his tragic death in July 2019 at the age of 20 due to an epileptic seizure.

In a subtle yet moving scene that quickly became a talking point among viewers, Sandler’s character is seen walking up to a golf check-in booth. Attendants inside are watching television, and in the background, an episode of Disney Channel’s “Jessie” appears on the screen, featuring Boyce as Luke Ross—his breakout role from 2011 to 2015. This Easter egg is short but deeply resonant, touching fans and reminding them of Boyce’s legacy.

Social media quickly responded to the poignant moment. Viewers described it as a “blink-and-you’ll-miss-it tribute,” with many expressing gratitude and shedding tears for the quiet memorial. One fan wrote, “Adam Sandler subtly including Cameron Boyce in this scene from #HappyGilmore2 hits different,” while another said, “Great tribute. My wife started crying as soon as she saw it”

Longstanding connection

Cameron Boyce shared a special connection with Adam Sandler, playing his on-screen son in the “Grown Ups” films (2010 and 2013). That loss reverberated throughout Hollywood and among fans worldwide.

Sandler previously honored Boyce in his 2020 film, “Hubie Halloween,” which included a heartfelt message in the credits. The tribute read: “In loving memory of CAMERON BOYCE, one of the kindest, coolest, funniest, and most talented kids we knew. Gone too soon, and loved by those around him”.

Legacy and foundation

Following Boyce’s passing, his family established the Cameron Boyce Foundation, dedicating efforts to fund research, education, and public awareness about epilepsy. The foundation continues to celebrate his life, talent, and commitment to making a positive difference.
