Adam Johnson cause of death: What happened to ice hockey player?
Adam Johnson's death during an on-ice collision has raised questions on safety of the players. Johnson was from Minnesota and played for Pittsburgh Penguins in the National Hockey League (NHL).

The arrest follows an investigation by South Yorkshire Police into the circumstances surrounding 29-year-old Johnson's death on October 31, characterized as a "freak accident" by the Nottingham Panthers. Johnson, a player for the Panthers, tragically lost his life when his neck was cut by the skate blade of Matt Petgrave from the Sheffield Steelers during an on-ice collision.
Following the incident, Johnson was rushed to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield by ambulance, where he was declared dead, as stated in the Sheffield coroner’s report.
A post-mortem examination confirmed that Johnson's cause of death was a neck injury, according to the police. This unfortunate incident has prompted increased scrutiny of player safety in the sport.
In response, the English Ice Hockey Association has mandated the use of neck guards for all players during on-ice activities, starting from December 31.
