Actress Edie McClurg, suffering from dementia, is victim of elder abuse

American actor Edith Marie McClurg is reportedly a victim of elder abuse. The 77-year-old comedian is also battling dementia. McClurg is best known for her role in the 1986 classic movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

McClurg's cousin and conservator Angelique Cabral, who also acted in Life in Pieces, accused a man named Michael Ramos, of taking advantage of McClurg while she was suffering from dementia. Ramos claims to be a "long-time friend" of Michael Ramos.

As per the court documents, it has been revealed that McClurg’s conservator alleged that Ramos tried to marry her. In this case, the judge has instructed the man in question to stay away from the idea of marrying the 77-year-old star.


Documents from the court showed that Ramos, currently living with McClurg, is unemployed and manipulating McClurg’s life with his plans, whereas he is fully aware of her medical condition. Her memory, thinking capacity, and reasoning abilities are highly affected, which is hindering her day-to-day activities.




Court documents obtained by the media revealed that Ramos had assaulted McClurg’s caregiver and that a report of the incident had already been filed with Los Angeles Police.

The caregiver expressed her fear that the man was not in any romantic relationship with McClurg and might have sexually abused her, while the veteran actress may not be aware of the incident due to her medical condition.

Earlier, Michael Ramos was permitted by a judge to live with Edie McClurg as her companion. However, in the light of this recent allegation, the representatives of McClurg’s conservatorship have pleaded to the court to get rid of the man from McClurg’s life.

Angelique Cabral applied to the Superior Court, California, L.A., on behalf of McClurg on Monday.
