This afternoon, gunfire broke out near a big office tower in Midtown Manhattan, causing a lot of trouble. A civilian and an NYPD officer were shot outside of 345 Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. The shooter ran away to the office building where Blackstone and the NFL are located. The building is currently locked down. The victims' health has not yet been made public.

Witnesses said that the scene was very chaotic and that the suspect ran into the building right after the shooting.

Governor Kathy Hochul stated that she has received a briefing on the Midtown Manhattan situation, characterizing it as one involving an "active shooter."

She advised residents and guests to stay away from the vicinity of the building, which includes the 52nd Street, Park Avenue, and Third Avenue areas close to the scene of the incident.

Midtown Manhattan is the scene of an ongoing shooter investigation, according to New York City Mayor Eric Adams on X.

Is the suspect dead?


Shane Devon Tamura, 27, has been identified by US law enforcement as the suspected shooter who opened fire on Monday at 345 Park Avenue, a 634-foot skyscraper. Since then, authorities have made public a picture of the suspected shooter entering the New York building in a composed manner, as per a report.

Authorities say at least four people, including an NYPD officer, died. Later, the number of fatalities increased to six, including the alleged shooter.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch stated on X that the "lone shooter has been neutralized" and that the scene is "contained." One source reported seeing a man enter the building carrying a long rifle.
