American football quarterback Aaron Rodgers has triggered retirement speculations as he denied jersey swap to Jameson Williams after the Green Bay Packers were defeated by Detroit Lions. While the Green Bay Packers needed just one more win to reach the playoffs, they were defeated by Detroit Lions 20-16 on Sunday, January 8.

As Lions celebrated their stunning win, veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers offered his congratulations before leaving the field. But, when Lions’ Jameson Williams asked Ridgers if he would swap jersey with him, Green Bay Packers’ player refused saying he will “hold on to this one”.

It is to mention that swapping jerseys at the conclusion of an NFL game is a common practice. Rodgers himself has done it several times in the past. However, on Sunday night, following Green Bay Packers’ defeat, Aaron Rodgers was heard saying, “I’m gonna hold on to this one”.

Though Rodgers’ denial for jersey swap could not have any significance, it can also be an indication for his retirement. That being said, his gesture has triggered speculations about his future in Green Bay. Several media reports have also stated that Rdgers’ body language following the Sunday match showed that he was slow in walking off the field.
