Judge's power-packed performance guided the Yankees to a dominant 8-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox. Judge’s 50th came in the second inning, a three-run blast off Jonathan Cannon that landed in the Yankees’ bullpen and put New York ahead 3-1. He added his 51st in the eighth inning, marking the 46th multi-homer game of his career.
One night after clinching a postseason berth, the Yankees pulled even atop the American League East with the Toronto Blue Jays, who fell 7-1 to the Boston Red Sox.
"Big tone-setter for us tonight," said Yankees manager Aaron Boone of Judge. "A big three-run homer after we fell behind there, and then it took it from there. Another great evening for the captain."
In the National League, the Milwaukee Brewers edged the San Diego Padres 3-1, matching the franchise record for wins with 96 and positioning themselves to secure the NL top seed with one more win or a Philadelphia loss.
The Phillies stayed close with an 11-1 rout of the Miami Marlins, highlighted by Kyle Schwarber’s 55th and 56th homers and Edmundo Sosa’s career-high three homers in his return from the injured list, contributing to Philadelphia’s franchise-record eight homers in a game.
