In a news conference on Wednesday to unveil his new nine-year, $360 million contract, the Yankees named Aaron Judge the new team captain.

Aaron Judge is the 16th captain in Yankees' history. It's tough to picture the Yankees without Aaron, according to Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner. After signing the contract, Steinbrenner requested that Judge serve as the Yankees' captain. The offer, according to the Judge, silenced him.

Judge expressed his surprise. When you look at the list of those that hold this distinction, it is truly an honor. After blasting a record-breaking 62 home runs in 2022, the slugger inked the biggest contract in Yankees history. Judge ultimately chose to return to the team that selected him in the first round of the 2013 draft, the San Diego Padres, despite receiving attractive offers from the San Francisco Giants and the San Diego Padres.

Judge stated that he needed to consider other free-agent teams but did not want to leave New York. Judge claimed that although he knew where he wanted to be in his heart, this procedure had taught him a vital lesson. It aided him in clearly determining that he belonged in New York.
