A fire at an apartment in the village of Hartland with seven fatalities is being investigated.

The fire report was received early on Friday morning. The Hartland Fire Department and Police Department responded and arrived on the scene. They helped rescue the people who were inside the burning building and from balconies.
The responders included nine police departments and 15 fire departments. No information was released about the victims' ages or any other information.
The police chief said the fire was a tragic incident for the community and the first responders. He requested that the community respect the privacy of the families involved. He also asked that people refrain from coming to the immediate area of the fire incident.
