2024 US Presidential Election: Joe Biden's two-pronged strategy to remain in frey and beat Donald Trump

Coming under scathing attacks for his poor performance at the June 27 presidential debate and a barrage of suggestions to step aside from the Presidential Election, Joe Biden has adopted a two-pronged strategy. First, he has rejected calls to pull out of the race for the White House and has declared defiantly that he may not be as young and energetic as before, but he knows how to deliver as the president of the country. Secondly, he has targeted Republican contender Donald Trump, saying that he is in a worse condition and he will take the country along the wrong path if he wins the election.

Shortly after his gaffe at the NATO event, where he called Ukrainian President Volodymir Zelensky as 'Vladimir Putin', three more Democrat leaders, including Representative Jim Himes, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, urged him to quit the race.

Soon after this, Joe Biden made another gaffe, this time at a press conference where he called Vice President Kamala Harris as 'Donald Trump'. According to 'Bloomberg', House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries met the president the same evening and “directly expressed the full breadth of insight, heartfelt perspectives, and conclusions about the path forward.”

Biden shifts focus to Trump

Working on the second part of his strategy, Biden tried to shift the focus to Trump and prove that despite his own missteps, the republic contender's rhetoric and policies are much worse.

Representative Jim Clyburn of South Carolina, came out in his support and declared that he remains “all in” with Biden. He targeted Trump and said that his return to power would not augur well. The Democrat leader talked about Project 2025, a sweeping policy blueprint crafted by some of the Republican’s closest advisers. Clyburn emphasized that Trump would bring a massive overhaul of the federal government and replace thousands of civil servants with officials deemed loyal to Donald Trump.
