The 2024 Grammy Salute to Industry Icons honoree is Sony Music Publishing chairman/CEO Jon Platt.

The award will be presented at the Recording Academy and Clive Davis-hosted pre-Grammy Gala on Saturday, Feb. 3, the night before the 66th Annual Grammy Awards.

In 1976, Davis started the pre-Grammy Gala as a way to commemorate the success of Barry Manilow's "Mandy," the first big hit for Arista Records and the label's first nominee for Grammy record of the year.

Since becoming chairman/CEO of Sony Music Publishing in 2019, Platt has worked to revitalize the company's "Songwriters First'' mission for the twenty-first century.

Platt's tenure has seen the company strengthen both its legacy and its future by forming alliances with songwriting legends such as Bruce Springsteen and Paul Simon, working with established hitmakers such as Ashley Gorley, signing the next generation of stars such as Olivia Rodrigo, Jack Harlow, Latto, Anitta, Central Cee, Kane Brown, and the Kid LAROI, and delivering opportunities for DIY creators through a deal with BeatStars.

Platt has been a vocal supporter of songwriters' right to fair compensation. Sony Music Publishing (SMP) has worked to ensure that songwriters are paid quickly as their hits spread around the world, eliminating long delays in foreign royalties delivery. The company has also expanded its international presence into India, Indonesia, and Nigeria.

SMP has expanded its services for songwriters and composers at all stages of their careers, reflecting Platt's commitment to artist development. Through the Songwriter Assistance Program, SMP has provided mental health and wellness support to its roster as part of Songwriters Forward, a global initiative.

Legacy songwriters now have access to new financial opportunities thanks to SMP's Legacy Unrecouped Balance Program. In collaboration with organizations such as the 100 Percenters, Songwriters of North America (SONA), and Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI), SMP has also provided over $1 million in grants to working songwriters.

Platt envisions a music industry that is as diverse as the music it represents. Throughout his career, he has worked to increase diversity in senior leadership teams and has supported SMP's global Women's Leadership Program.

This dedication extends to initiatives like SMP's Screen Scoring Diversity Scholarship at the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music, which aim to empower the next generation of songwriters and composers.
