2024 MTV VMAs: Place, date, time, performers, live streaming, how to vote for your favorites and all you need to know

Looking forward to a night of incredible performances by leading performers, the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) of 2024 are quickly approaching. Being both the host and the nominee, Megan Thee Stallion will be in the middle of everything. Making history as she steps onto the stage, she will be performing live from Long Island, New York's UBS Arena, as per the reports of MSN.

Date, time, and viewing options

The live broadcast of the 2024 MTV VMAs is set for Wednesday, September 11, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. MTV as well as a number of sister networks, such as BET, BET Her, CMT, Comedy Central, Logo, MTV2, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, Pop, TV Land, and VH1, will air the program. MTV and TelevisaUnivision will collaborate for a simultaneous broadcast on Univision for the second year in a row. At 11:30 p.m. ET/PT, UNIMÁS will air an encore presentation. The event will be streamed on Paramount+ for those without cable service.

Performers and special tributes

A variety of performances by performers such as Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan are in store for viewers. Additionally scheduled to perform are LISA, Halsey, Camila Cabello, GloRilla, Rauw Alejandro, Benson Boone, Lenny Kravitz, Anitta, Karol G, LL Cool J, and Shawn Mendes. Katy Perry will also sing some of her biggest hits and receive the MTV Video Vanguard Award. Her first MTV stage appearance since 2017 is this one. MTV says that the event will showcase the most memorable music videos from the previous year and feature tributes and special appearances by well-known celebrities.

Nominees leading the pack

With ten nominations, Taylor Swift is in the lead, closely followed by Post Malone with nine. Each of Sabrina Carpenter, Ariana Grande, and Eminem has six nominations. LISA, Olivia Rodrigo, and Teddy Swims each have four nominations, while Megan Thee Stallion and SZA have five each. In addition, 29 first-time nominees—among them Sabrina Carpenter, Teddy Swims, Benson Boone, and others—have received numerous nominations for the 2024 VMAs. This year's program has several new faces, including Burna Boy, Jelly Roll, and Chappell Roan.

How to cast your vote

Voting for favorite performers in 15 categories (including Best Collaboration and Video of the Year) is open to fans until Friday, August 30. Music lovers will have one more chance to support up-and-coming talent by casting their votes for the Best New Artist category on the evening of the awards ceremony.

In observance of 9/11 Day and Tuesday's Children, the 23rd anniversary of the horrific incident, this year's MTV VMAs will also donate their earnings in remembrance of the 9/11 atrocities.
