The Video Assistant Referee or VAR became an essential instrument to help Tunisia some pride to return home as they had been eliminated from the 2022 World Cup. The French, on their side, have filed a complaint against FIFA that their last-minute goal not be disallowed.

The VAR showed Griezmann as off-side when the ball travelled to the goal region from a long French pass, and then a header from a Tunisian saw Griezmann smash the ball on a grounded shot to the net. Another issue was that the final whistle had also been blown, but Griezmann pushed the ball in.

So after a lot of drama at the end of the game, it was 1-0 in Tunisia's favour. The goal by Wahbi Khazri, who is also the Tunisian skipper, was just fantastic. He received the ball from almost midfield and made a dash for the French goal, then a few dribbles past a few defenders, and the ball glided to the back of the net; in short, a powerful display against the defending champions, France.

The captain was soon called back by the coach for some rest and received a hero's welcome at the dugout. There was a stunning silence after Griezmann's goal was netted in the Tunisian goal; people took it as a draw, and Tunisian fans observed a surprising silence.

They couldn't believe the last-minute goal would snatch their win away. News soon trickled in that Denmark had lost to Australia, and Tunisia was out of the tournament regardless. Then the referee was shown talking on his earphones, and he ran to watch the video review and declared Griezmann's goal was cancelled as he was off-side.

The match continued for some more moments, and then the final whistle came, much to the satisfaction of the Tunisian fans. Tunisia was declared the winner, 1-0 to France.
