200,000 sign petition to replay Argentina vs France World Cup final, details inside
After Argentina won the 2022 FIFA World Cup, some people, largely in France, signed a petition calling for a rematch of the final.

As of December 23, around 200,000 people had signed the petition, which demanded the match to be replayed.
On December 18, Argentina defeated France in the final to lift their third World Cup trophy. Argentina secured a win over France in a 4-2 penalty shootout, which took place after a thrilling 3-3 draw.
Although the final has been considered one of the best football matches, many people in France have raised issues with the first two goals of Argentina.
The petition has argued that referee Szymon Marciniak wrongfully awarded an opening penalty to Argentina. It also stated that Cristian Romero fouled France's star Mbappe in the build-up to the counterattack before Argentina's second goal. However, referee Marciniak has garnered widespread praise for his performance in the World Cup.
Although many people have signed the petition for the World Cup final match to be replayed, such instances are nothing new in football. Interestingly, a similar petition was started last summer when Switzerland knocked France out of the Euro 2020. Recently, a change.org petition was initiated to ban Anthony Taylor from refereeing Chelsea matches.
