‘16 and Pregnant’ star Whitney Purvis mourns death of son Weston Jr. at 16

Whitney Purvis, known for her appearance on the first season of MTV’s 16 and Pregnant, is grieving the tragic loss of her son, Weston Owen Gosa Jr., who died at just 16 years old. Purvis announced the heartbreaking news on June 2 in an emotional Facebook post, sharing several photos of Weston and expressing her profound grief.

“This is so hard to write. My beautiful son, Weston, has passed away. He was only 16 years old. Life is so cruel and unfair. I just don’t understand. Oh my baby is gone and I don’t know what to do with myself,” Purvis wrote. She continued, “He was so perfect. This is really my worst nightmare come true. How do you go on in life after losing a child? I’m in disbelief, this cannot be happening. I don’t want it to be real. I would do anything just to hold him. Words just can’t describe the pain I am feeling.”

Weston’s stepmother, Amy, also posted on Facebook, explaining that the family is awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of death. She wrote, “All we know is we got up this morning around 7 am and tried to wake him up, he was not breathing, we attempted CPR and called an ambulance. The paramedics attempted it as well and took him to the hospital in Gordon County where he was pronounced dead.” Amy noted that Weston had several health issues, including diabetes, and described the loss as “completely unexpected.”

Whitney and Weston Gosa Sr. welcomed Weston Jr. in April 2009, with his birth and early life documented on 16 and Pregnant. The couple later had another son, River, in 2014. In recent years, Purvis lost custody of both children and faced legal troubles related to child support.

The family has asked for privacy and prayers as they mourn the loss of Weston, remembered as “brilliant, smart, funny and full of potential.”
