US-based Obopay names Deepak Chandnani as President

US-based mobile banking and payment service provider Obopay today said it has appointed Deepak Chandnani as President of the company with immediate effect to expand its mobile payments business worldwide.

NEW DELHI: US-based mobile banking and payment service provider Obopay today said it has appointed Deepak Chandnani as President of the company with immediate effect to expand its mobile payments business worldwide.

Chandnani, who was formerly Head of Sales and Marketing of Obopay, will report to Chief Executive Carol Realini, Obopay said in a statement issued here.

In his new role, Chandnani will head global operations across all market and geographies, the company said.

"As Chandnani assumes this new role, we are looking at a dynamic future as we process transactions on three continents, and continue to position ourselves to take advantage of the appetite of consumers for mobile money solutions," said Realini.

Chandnani, who joined Obopay in 2008, will be based out of the company's corporate office in Mumbai. He has helped expand the company's service in three continents -- North America, Asia and Africa.

Prior to joining Obopay, Chandnani was the Chief Executive Officer of multi-system operator Wire and Wireless in India and before that served as the Managing Director for ATM manufacturer NCR in India.

He has also worked for Yahoo! and Citibank. At Yahoo!, he established the first office in India and at Citibank, he played key roles like Marketing Director and Business Head of the innovative Citibank Suvidha liability business in India.
