Over the years, there has been a lot of speculation on what could have been the reason that the couple temporarily split. While there may be many explanations, the one that Judy Wade gave was probably the most plausible of the lot. Judy, a former royal correspondent, said that Kate might have realised the burden of being married to Prince William, which was why she decided to take a break. Judy said that marrying a royal was akin to a life sentence.
During their engagement interview before marriage, William said the brief split gave them some space, which worked out better for the couple. Even Kate said that she felt it was a good decision but admitted that she was not happy when it happened. She further said that their time apart was valuable.
