Woman gets injured in two-car collision on A1 in East Lothian

Emergency services near Macmerry became active as soon as they were alerted of a woman getting severely injured in a multi-vehicle collision on the A1 in East Lothian. After the emergency service rushed to the spot, the woman was immediately taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.

The incident occurred around 7 am on Sunday, December 11, when Emergency services were alerted about a multi-vehicle collision at East Lothian Road near Macmerry. Following the accident, a part of the A1 of the East Lothian road was closed for a couple of hours as police recovered vehicles. A woman, whose name, age, and condition weren’t released at the time, was immediately rushed to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.



Traffic Scotland notified the motorists of the accident in that area before 8 am, as both the roads heading southbound A1 were closed. The motorists were forced to take a different route and told to expect a delay in the normal resumption of traffic, which began around 8:45 am later.

Met Office also issued a yellow weather warning across Edinburgh of the potentially icy conditions until Sunday afternoon, December 11. A1 is the longest road in the United Kingdom, stretching 639 km.
