Wimbledon has always been a cash-rich championship and winners and participants have taken away a lot from their respective games and wins here at the All England Club. However, this time around, the stakes at Wimbledon 2024 are higher, with the competition as well the prize money soaring at the same time. According to the Independent's report, The total prize money at Wimbledon has reached £50m for the first time ahead of the ongoing edition, meaning that winners of the respective men's women's and mixed categories will be taking away millions as takeaway prizes.

According to the report, the winner of the men's singles and the women's singles will be taking away a whopping £2.7m each, with £1.4m going to the second-placed finalist. In the men’s and women’s doubles categories, each winning pair takes home
£650,000, with the runners-up getting £330,000 (per pair). The takeaway for the mixed doubles is a little less as compared to the other categories, with the winning pair taking away £130,000.

Does every participant at Wimbledon get cash prizes?

Prize money in Wimbledon is meted out round-by-round too, and not only to the winners and finalists of titles. Starting from the first round to the final, each round gets you a certain cash amount. Even if you don't win and just qualify for round 1, you still can take home a few grands. For example, the first round takeaway in the men's and women's singles is £60,000, with the second round and third round takeaways increasing to £93,000 and £143,000 respectively.

There are round by round cash prizes for other categories including men's and women's doubles as well as mixed doubles. Therefore, no one ever leaves empty handed from the Wimbledon.
