Khorry Ramey has been denied permission to witness the execution of her father. The federal Judge cited the Missouri law that forbids anyone below 21 to witness an execution.

Khorry Ramey, 19, filed a plea in the court to allow her to be with her father in his last times and witness his execution.
A residing federal judge, however, denied her request. He cited the Missouri law that forbids anyone below 21 to witness an execution as the reason.

Khorry Ramey’s father, Kevin Johnson, will be executed on Tuesday. He was charged with killing William McEntee (a Kirkwood, Missouri police officer) in 2005. He will be executed to death by injections. Kevin’s lawyers have pending appeals in the court that seek to reduce his punishment and spare his life.

Ramey wished to witness the execution, so the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) filed an emergency motion in Kansas City to the federal court.

Johnson’s lawyers said they did not challenge his guilt but did claim that there was a role of racism to give Johnson the death penalty. McEntee was white, and Johnson is black.

Ramey and Judge on The Decision

Khorry said she was too heartbroken when the decision was announced. She added that she would not be able to be with him in his last moments. She also said that despite his wrongdoings, her father is the most important person in her life.
