Will people read Prince Harry’s upcoming memoir 'Spare'? Here’s what public poll suggests

Prince Harry has had a troubled relationship with his family, which got further amplified following his marriage with ‘Suits’ fame actor Meghan Markle. Things got so out of hand that the couple decided to step down from being active members of the British Royal Family. Therefore, the news of Prince Harry’s tell-all memoir had created a lot of buzz in the United Kingdom.

Daily Express reported that Harry’s upcoming book, Spare, is due for an international release in January 2023. However, a new public poll suggested that most people in the UK wouldn’t buy the Duke of Sussex’s upcoming memoir. The poll conducted by Techne revealed that about 55% of British citizens were not willing to buy a copy of Prince Harry’s memoir. Around 1,629 British adults responded to the poll, which was conducted on November 2 and 3.




Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said that the launch of the memoir was going to be an international event. The expert further said that there was no precedent to Prince Harry’s book other than Duke of Windsor’s A King’s Story, which came out in 1951. More importantly, Richard Fitzwilliams suggested that the number of people buying the book wouldn’t matter to the impact it was bound to have.

Richard Fitzwilliams confirmed that the memoir would be translated into 16 languages. However, whether or not Prince Harry will be doing interviews before the publication remains unclear. Also, Fitzwilliams informed that Prince Harry commissioned several changes to his memoir following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
