To stop the flow of subscribers leaving from the platform, the streaming giant started seeking ways to reduce password sharing. When users log in from locations other than the primary account holder's, a new validation system will be put in place that can identify them. Within 15 minutes, the system will demand the viewers input a validation code.

With this, the streaming platform will allow only the primary account holder to add only two other users who will not receive a validation code. Meanwhile, people who will share their passwords will be asked to pay extra as a punishment. It's not yet known if this will be implemented globally, but in certain countries, this has been a $3 (£2.50) add-on, according to the report on Metro.




Over 100 million viewers, according to the company, are tuning in using passwords they obtained from friends and relatives. It is expected that the streaming giant is expected to roll out this feature next year in the United States. However, the company runs the risk of losing the client loyalty that it has spent years cultivating.
