Why was Rosalind recast in Fate: The Winx Saga season 2 on Netflix?

Fate: The Winx Saga is back with a second season where students return for their second year while still mourning over Farah Dowling, the character Eve Best plays.

Netflix dropped all the episodes of the second season on September 16. And as the students return, they find themselves under the stringent rule of headteacher Rosalind.

At the end of the first season, Rosalind is freed from stasis because Farah, the headmistress, knew that she was in trouble. Rosalind seemingly killed Farah when fighting against her in the explosive finale and was proceeding to assume the leadership of Alfea. The new Rosalind has a different look, though initially, she was recognised by her blonde ponytail and sharp features.


Though Lesly Sharp appeared only at the end of the first outing, Miranda Richardson has taken over from her with a cropped haircut.



Season 2 of Fate The Winx Saga was filmed from July to November 21, but it was only on July 22 that the casting was announced.

Why the Former Rosalind Star Lesley could not continue in Fate The Winx Saga Season 2:
The actress could not continue because she was involved in other projects at the time of filming.

She narrated Heaven Made, a BBC One documentary series that presents a look behind the scenes of three religious orders throughout Ireland and England. She was also busy on stage with the lead role in Kae Tempest’s Philoctetes in 2021.

So, with a lot of work at hand, it may have been difficult to juggle both projects.

Moreover, Lesley would have to commit a lot of time as Rosalind has a very prominent role in Fate: The Winx Saga season 2.

Netflix also confirmed that because of Lesley's committed schedule, she wouldn’t be able to return to season 2 as the filming dates wouldn’t work for her.

Miranda as Rosalind in season 2:
The 64-year-old Miranda is also known for her roles as Rita Skeeter in the Harry Potter films, Orlando, and Damage.

Since her role in the Good Omens series as Madame Tracy, the Fate of Winx Saga is her latest TV role.

Miranda is recording for a role in her upcoming film, The Magician’s Elephant. She also worked on The House as the voice of Aunt Clarice.

Apart from the character of Rosalind, Terra’s dad, Ben Harvey, has also been recast for Fate: The Winx Saga season 2.
